Ruth Cheesley runs Virya Technologies Ltd., who provide ethical technology solutions to small and medium sized businesses around the world.
Originally picking up Mambo and soon after Joomla! when searching for an alternative to static sites, Ruth found Joomla! easy to pick up and benefited greatly from the friendly support on the forums and IRC chat room which led her to specialise in the area.
She helped to co-found Joomla! User Group Suffolk with Matt Meyrick after meeting at Joomla!Day UK 2009, and has been a core part of the organising committee for Joomla!Day UK 2010.
Ruth's interests lie in helping newcomers to Joomla! overcome the first hurdles of figuring out how Joomla! works and answering all the questions people think are too silly to ask!
Outside of work, Ruth is a keen hockey player, playing in goal for a local team, and is also a practicing Buddhist, involved with local centres in Ipswich and Colchester. She has a keen interest in hill walking and is a supervisor and assessor with the Duke of Edinburgh's Award scheme.
